Silent Day
Today is my Silent Day so, no talking, no looking at anyone, and absolutely no internet. It’s a day of stillness and cleansing, both inside and out.
On top of that, it’s mixed with Kunjal Kriya, a natural stomach cleansing method where you drink warm salty water as fast as possible until you vomit. And as if that weren’t enough, it’s also the final day of my Ayurvedic treatment, which means taking a powdered medicine and drinking water until my intestines are completely clean, meaning, of course, spending a lot of time on the toilet.
I can drink water, but I’m not allowed to eat anything until 3:30 p.m., when I’ll finally have one simple cup of rice with lots of water. That’s it.
As crazy as it sounds, I’m kind of excited to see how it all unfolds, how my body reacts, how my mind feels.
…
The vomiting part was awful. My teacher had to press on my stomach to help me trigger the reflex, which theoretically should come naturally. My body resisted, it feels like it has its own defense mechanism. I didn’t vomit everything out, but the teacher told me not to worry: ’’Don’t worry, you’ll take it out from the other side later.”
And she was right… I took the medicine afterward and, well, I basically spent the whole morning on the toilet.
That’s me after vomiting water…
