The Cat with a Doggy Soul

That’s Shellu, or at least that’s how I think his name is spelled. He lives at the yoga school, and somehow, he just belongs here.

He has a sister who’s too afraid to go outside cause of some past bad experiences, but Shellu is the complete opposite. He’s always out in nature, wandering around the grass or lying under the trees as if he owns the place.

The funny thing is… he doesn’t really behave like a cat. I call him Doggy, because I’m convinced he has a dog’s soul. He follows you everywhere, loves cuddles, and always wants to be close. There’s something incredibly calm about him, he moves slowly, almost mindfully, like he’s meditating. I say.. ‘too much Kapha’.

Well, except when he suddenly decides he’s a monkey and climbs the coconut tree faster than Rayo McQueen. One second he’s zen, and the next he’s halfway up the tree.

Shellu never scratches, even when he plays. He just loves lying on his back, waiting for belly rubs like a happy teddy bear and with all that fluffy hair, it’s impossible to resist.

Sometimes he sneaks into my room and sits on the window, watching the world outside. I don’t mind; he feels like part of the space. I just secretly hope he’s also keeping the snakes and spiders out!
