Stillness can be found anywhere, if it’s already within yourself.

We are surrounded by a world full of rush and stress. We go from A to B to C, then back to A, then to D, then C again… blablabla. In general, it’s just too much—for our minds, our bodies, and ourselves. I’m the first one always rushing, never stopping even for a minute to breathe, look around me, and just do nothing.

Today I went for a walk to the nearest beach from the school. It’s basically a virgin beach, surrounded by palm trees and almost no people. Not touristic, just authentic. I was walking with my camera, trying to capture some nice shots as I’m also learning how to use a proper camera during this journey. Then I saw this man sitting on the ground, his eyes fixed on the sea, not caring whether a wave was coming or not.

He was just free. Calm. At peace with himself. No phone, no distractions, nothing, just him and his eyes looked on the ocean.

It was wonderful. It made me think about how simple it should be to take a moment for yourself, and how difficult the world and the society we live in make it. It seems you can find calmness and stillness whenever you want; I guess you just need to be open to it, and at peace with yourself.

Well, thinking more about it, the truth is, we allow the rush to take over because we don’t even give ourselves the time to stop and think about it.
